The Evolution of Staff Council to Staff Association

This month's UCCS Archives display highlights the evolution of Staff Council to Staff Association:
Staff Association has evolved from a meeting of the representatives of the University of Colorado (system) Staff Council to the current Staff Association. Originally a group focusing on issues impacting state classified employees, it has expanded its scope to enhance skills and build community among University of Colorado Colorado Springs employees. UCCS Staff Council was established in 1980. In 1995, the Professional Exempt Staff Association (PESA) came into being to address issues and support Professional Exempt/Unclassified Staff (now University Staff - those not state classified positions). In 2015, the two Staff Association and Staff Council that had worked together frequently, joined to become the UCCS Staff Association representing all staff positions.
