These are some of the voices of Season 3 of the Colorado Springs LGBTQ+ Oral History Project, as collected by the students of Tre Wentling’s WEST 3090 Peep Show: Sexuality through Popular Culture and WEST 3080: Trans Studies: Fluidity, Politics, & Identities. The Colorado Springs LGBTQ+ Oral History Project, originated by Colorado College’s Dr. Rushaan Kumar in 2020, is a public archive of the life stories for long-time LGBTQ+ residents of Colorado Springs. This continuously evolving community-based research project harnesses the power of storytelling in preserving LGBTQ+ subcultures, memories, and lived experiences. Both Dr. Wentling and Dr. Kumar co-produce each season with students from UCCS and CC.
Explore a selection of voices here both in full and edited together around various themes common in the narratives. While select themes have been pulled out into their own videos, each oral history is rich with other stories. Want to hear more people?
