Six Word Scary Stories Challenge 2024

It’s that time of the year! Think you can send shivers down our spines in just six words? The Kraemer Family Library invites you to write your own six-word story that will frighten, spook, or scare your fellow UCCS community members!

Your stories will be featured on the library's digital signage from October 31st through the month of November. Five entries will be randomly selected to win a KFL mug!

KFL is also partnering up with Dining and Hospitality Services to publish your Six Word Scary Stories! All stories will be printed on stickers that will be placed on cups used at all Big Cat coffee shops across campus.

What is a six-word story? Here are a few examples from previous challenges:

While falling asleep, voices whisper — “finally.” - Liliana Favila

Pretend it’s just chicken, be grateful - Anonymous

I awoke to incessant outlook chimes - Katelyn Bindbeutel

You can submit works under your own name or anonymously. Stories should be appropriate for a college audience. Each submission will be reviewed for appropriateness. Stories that include vulgarity or profanity, or are political in nature, will not be accepted. Multiple entries are welcome! However, depending on the submission volume, we may not publish all stories submitted by the same individual.

Please submit your original six-word scary story by October 20, 2024.
