What is Library Instruction?

Instruction in the use of the library is a very important facet of our support for the academic programs. A working knowledge of the library and the literature of the field are important components in each student's education. Many students do not know how to use the library efficiently and effectively.

Course-Integrated Instruction

Faculty can request basic library instruction  (e.g., skills and concepts involved in finding, retrieving, evaluating, and using information) or focused instruction on specific information resources for their classes.  These sessions may include hands-on practice with electronic resources in your discipline, an overview of reference materials in your subject area, search strategy formulation, advanced search techniques or learning how to evaluate the quality of resources.

Your subject librarian will work with you to tailor sessions and materials that focus on the needs of your particular course or assignment.

Online Guides

Librarians can work with instructors to develop online course guides (Libguides) to support course activities.
